Dear Friend in Service:

Serve Wisconsin is pleased to announce the availability of AmeriCorps funds for national service programs in Wisconsin. Grants are available competitively to nonprofit organizations, state and local units of government, colleges and universities, Indian tribes, faith-based organizations, and partnerships or consortia comprised of any of these entities.

AmeriCorps is a national service program of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) that provides thousands of Americans with education awards in exchange for a year or two of community service. The community service may be performed on a full- or part-time basis. Serve Wisconsin typically funds AmeriCorps programs in Wisconsin that involve at least 20 AmeriCorps members. Programs must address the most critical education, public safety, environment, homeland security, or other human needs in Wisconsin's communities.

AmeriCorps also focuses on recruiting and managing volunteers. In 2007, a national target of 950,000 volunteers has been set by CNCS for the 67,350 AmeriCorps members serving nationwide or a ratio of 14.1 volunteers per AmeriCorps member. Wisconsin AmeriCorps programs engaged volunteers at a ratio of 22.4 volunteers per AmeriCorps member in 2004-2005 as compared to the national average of 23.4 volunteers per AmeriCorps member in that same program year. Volunteer recruitment and management strategies should be considered within the context of your application.

There are four types of AmeriCorps grants available:
1. New and Recompete AmeriCorps program operating (competitive or formula) grants;
2. New and Continuation Education Awards Program grants that provide members with access to an education award and programs with up to $600 per full-time equivalent member for operations;
3. Continuation Competitive AmeriCorps program operating grants; and
4. Continuation Formula AmeriCorps program operating grants.

2008-2009 AmeriCorps*State RFP 0809WNCSB-AC

Amendment to 2008-2009 AmeriCorps*State RFP
As of 3/28/08 an amendment has been made to the three appendices (B, C, & D) of the RFP which detail our process for selecting AmeriCorps Formula grants for funding. Within this process, we review several factors of program performance, one of those being a Progress Report Peer Review. Since the RFP was released, the Corporation for National and Community Service has changed the format of progress reports and we have followed their lead with our own process. Accordingly, we have dropped the Progress Report Peer Review and replaced it with another review mechanism, Performance Measures Met/Unmet, to be in line with new Corporation procedures. See Appendices B & C for further information. Appendix D, as it dealt specifically with Rubric for the Progress Report Peer Review, has been deleted. This modification will only affect applicants in the Formula funding pool who have program performance data for the 2006-2007 program year.
